Bentley Mills, the California-based leader in commercial carpets for over 45 years, designs and manufactures award-winning broadloom, tile, and rugs known for luxury, timelessness, and quality. As a part of its commitment to sustainability, Bentley Mills developed and operates in a LEED-EBOM Gold facility and has achieved certifications like Cradle to Cradle and NSF 140. Bentley Mills’ achievements in design, performance, and customer service have made it a trusted partner for architects and interior designers worldwide.

Challenge

Like many companies, Bentley Mills is a victim of their success. This high-end, sustainable commercial flooring company grew faster than its technical infrastructure, creating friction for internal and client-facing experiences. Laborious, redundant processes bogged down the tech team while lagging load times, and a clunky UI frustrated salespeople and clients. We were tasked with cleaning the framework, streamlining the backend, accelerating load speeds, and optimizing the sales journey.

Action

The project began with a website audit and analysis. After this, we migrated the content to a new database platform to scrub the legacy data and establish the appropriate space and power for growth. Then, we replaced their existing system with a scalable, customized CMS but kept it on an open platform for easy maintenance and modification. We also developed an elegant product publishing process that could keep up with a booming business. Finally, we redesigned the catalog to handle over 40,000 product SKUs to make the experience more responsive and user-friendly.

The Results
The outcome for Bentley Mills was instantaneous and indisputable. By letting technology handle the heavy lifting, the site immediately became more maintainable with less opportunity for error. The technology and product teams gained bandwidth because their publishing tasks now take minutes instead of weeks. New, lighting-fast load times delighted the sales group, and clients embraced the fresh, contract-specific product pages.
